Bill Parlaman Is A BBQ Freak!
About 10 years ago while on a business trip to Birmingham, Alabama, Bill was sitting in his hotel room waiting for his
business associate to call for dinner plans.
Little did Bill know-- this call was about to change his life forever.
You see the attorney Bill was working with wanted to know what he liked to eat. Bill traveled a bit back then
he enjoyed eating local fare. In other words he liked to eat what the locals ate. Bill didn’t want to eat at big
restaurant chains or cookie cutter restaurants where other business travelers or tourists could be found eating. So when Bill's
attorney asked what he liked to eat, Bill immediately asked what people in Alabama liked to eat.
Without hesitation the attorney asked in a thick southern accent, “You like Ribs?"
Well to make a long story short this Yankee from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania had his first taste of "real” barbecue from a
place called Dreamland Barbecue. The next day Bill found himself eating barbecue there for lunch and into the evening after his
plane back to Philly was cancelled. He finally took a cab back to the airport with a full belly; barbecue sauce stains on his shirt
and a grin from ear to ear. On the flight home to Philly all Bill could think about were those fire smoked ribs from Dreamland
Barbecue!
Bill spent the next few months eating "mail order" barbecue ribs from his beloved Dreamland but soon found this would be too cost prohibited to
continue. He had to figure out a way to make barbecue as good as Dreamland. So Bill went out and bought his first smoker and he
hasn’t looked back since.
Fast forward a few years later and Bill has catered for birthday parties, family gatherings and sporting events. He
was hired by a local sports bar just outside Philly called the Winners Circle to provide the restaurant with their barbecue specials.
Bill is also certified KCBS judge.
As Bill honed his barbecue skills he found he loved the people and the community centered around the barbecue world.
He discovered a lot about making good barbecue through reading books and spending a ton of time reading and posting on online Barbecue
forums. But Bill soon noticed something was missing from these online forums and websites. There were just too many rules on
what you could and could not do.
Bill also found it very difficult to network with others on the website. The information on these websites was often
old and outdated. He also found that there was very little in the way of helping barbecue entrepreneurs and business owners improve
their business. Bill grew tired of not being allowed to post his own pictures, videos and website information for fear of being
blacklisted by the forum moderators.
So Bill finally decided to offer a place for other BBQ Freaks to come, hang out, and discover various topics about
barbecue.
BBQ Freaks.com was born out of Bill's frustration with the lack of current and updated barbecue information, the inability of other websites to
allow its members to show their creative side and a place for aspiring barbecue entrepreneurs to find hard hitting information to grow their
business.
BBQ Freaks.com is dedicated to bringing you the latest and greatest information about improving your barbecue, helping you
win your next competition or improving your barbecue related business. Whether you are a caterer, own your own restaurant or sell a
barbecue related product, rub or barbecue sauce.
Bill lives in Chester Springs, Pa where he spends a ton of time with his girlfriend Michelle and their 3 kids, Gabrielle,
Kirsten and Alexa. He enjoys smoking butts, ribs and chicken on his Weber Smokey Mountain Cooker, his Weber Silver Smoker and his Weber
Kettle grill and occasionally burning down his girlfriends back deck!
